2010 registration is now closed, except for the following selected openings:

12-'s - opening for 1 team

14-'s - opening for 1 team

16-C - opening for 1 team

18AB - opening for 1 team

18C - opening for 2 teams

• Entry Fee

  • There will be a flat-rate team fee of $250 (by May 1) or $300 (after May 1).   Two coaches are included in the team fee. Make checks payable to: “Star of the North State Games.”
  • Discounted Star of the North athlete shirts will be available for pre-order. They can be ordered with your registration and then picked up at registration check-in.
  • There will be additional Star of the North merchandise available for sale at Games headquarters. This merchandise will be priced reasonably, and we hope that all participants will still return home with a Star of the North Games souvenir.
• Competition Format
  • Festival format. Round-robin pool play Saturday to determine seeding into multi-level playoffs on Sunday. All teams will be seeded into Sunday’s playoffs.
  • We will be offering “A/B” (combined) and “C” divisions for the 14’s, 16’s and 18’s. Please register your team for the most appropriate division, with the “A/B” division being the most competitive division. Returning teams: Please use your experience in ‘09 Star of the North Games as a guideline for the best division for your team. Teams that qualified for the “gold” playoffs should consider moving up a division. Teams qualifying for the lowest playoff division should consider moving down.
  • Minimum of eight teams required to hold a division. Tournament director reserves the right to reassign teams from one division to another
• Eligibility

  • USA Volleyball membership is not required. Female only, open to all Minnesota residents.  For 12-U: Born on or after September 1, 1997 or were in 6th grade or under during the 2009-2010 academic year; For 14-U: Born on or after September 1, 1995 or were in 8th grade or under during the 2009-2010 academic year; For 16-U: Born on or after September 1, 1993 or were in 10th grade or under during the 2009-2010 academic year; For 18-U: Born on or after September 1, 1991 or were in 12th grade or under during the 2009-2010 academic year.  Entries must be postmarked on or before May 28, 2010.

  • Due to facility capacity, some divisions of the 2010 Star of the North volleyball tournament may close prior to the deadline.  Early registration is strongly advised.  Teams will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis.

• Rules
  • United States Volleyball Association (USVBA) and North Country Region (NCR-USVBA) rules will apply, and subject to modification. Click here to see a copy of the complete tournament rules. Rules were mailed to teams on June 11, 2010.
• Venues
  • The Star of the North Games volleyball tournament will use over 50 different courts in Rochester, including the National Volleyball Center, and surrounding communities. It will not be determined which age groups play at specific venues until schedules have been completed.
• Schedule
  • All matches for all teams will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, June 26. Schedules will be mailed to coaches on June 11.
• Awards
  • Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each division.
• All-Events Passes
  • Passes are required for admission to all Star of the North Summer Games events and may be purchased for $7 per person at headquarters or at any of the venues. Admission is free for children 12 and under. All athletes and up to two coaches per team receive a credential for free admission to all competitions and events during the Summer Games.
