Competition Format
Championship and consolation rounds will be played in all singles events except round robin rounds (2 matches guaranteed). Tennis balls will be provided for all participants. Each participant is limited to two events.
Juniors & Adults: All events will be 2 of 3 sets. A 12 point tiebreaker will be used throughout the tournament. Consolation rounds will be 2 sets and a match point breaker (up to 10, win by 2) for the third.
Sport director reserves the right to combine divisions if necessary. Match length and schedule may be adjusted if there are 3 or more matches a day in a division.
Eligibility
Open to all Minnesota residents. USTA membership is not required.
Special Registration Instructions
Individuals participating in doubles events should list the event code number(s) and partners on the official entry form or a separate sheet of paper. On-line registrants will see a screen asking the name of their doubles partner. Each doubles partner must complete and return a separate entry form and waiver. Entries received after June 8 may be accepted on a space available basis; no guarantees.
Rules
United States Tennis Association (USTA) rules apply in all matches. All participants are responsible for knowing and understanding the rules, policies, and code of conduct for the sport of tennis. Tennis shoes must have non-marking soles. We can provide racquets.
Location
Apollo High School, 1000 – 44th Ave N, St. Cloud, MN 56303. In case of inclement weather, the tournament will be moved indoors at Gold’s Gym. The tournament will be completed rain or shine.
Schedule of Events
Matches will be held 8 am to 8 pm on Saturday, June 18 and 8 am to 5 pm on Sunday, June 19. Match start times can be found by calling Chris Anderson, tennis director, at 320.224.2202, after June 14. It is each player’s responsibility to check their match times. Draws and match times will also be available on the Star of the North website after June 14.
Awards
Star of the North Games medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division.
All-Events Passes
Passes are required for admission to all Star of the North Summer Games events and may be purchased for $7 per person at registration check-in, or at the tennis venue. Admission is free for children 12 and under. All athletes receive a credential as part of their registration fee.
Financial Aid
The Registration Assistance Program (RAP) was created to assist athletes under 18 years of age who may need financial aid to participate in the Games. For more information on RAP, call the Star of the North Summer Games office.
Refund Policy
In the case of inclement weather, every effort will be made to complete the tournament in its entirety. Fees are non-refundable if the tournament is canceled, shortened or otherwise modified in any way due to inclement weather. No refunds to athletes that register and then later withdraw from the tournament.
