Competition Format
Snatch and clean and jerk, with three attempts in each lift category. The best snatch and clean and jerk completed are combined for a total score.
Eligibility
Open to all Minnesota residents and those non-Minnesota residents registering with the Minnesota Association of USAW. Memberships are available at the venue site – School Age (17 and under): $25; Junior (age 18-20): $35: Senior (age 21-34): $40; Master (age 35 and over): $45. Age determined by participant’s age December 31, 2012. Forms available at www.usaweightlifting.org
Rules
USA Weightlifting (USAW) rules apply. Uniforms need to comply with USAW rules. (One piece singlet) Rules are at www.usaweightlifting.org
Schedule
All athletes must report to the Star of the North Games headquarters for registration prior to weigh-in. All Youths (16 and under) and probably all Open women will compete in the morning. All other Open athletes will compete in the afternoon. Specific schedules will be determined a few days after the deadline. Final schedules will be posted at www.starofthenorthgames.org , or call the sport director (below).
Awards
Star of the North Games medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division. Medal winners at the 2012 Star of the North Games will earn an invitation to the 2013 State Games of America in Hershey-Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
All-Events Passes
Passes are required for admission to all Star of the North Summer Games events and may be purchased for $10 per person at registration check-in, or at the weightlifting venue. Admission is free for children 12 and under. All athletes receive a credential as part of their registration fee.
