Competition Format
All age groups, youth and adult, will be run on Saturday, June 23.
All running events will be run as timed finals. Long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, and javelin will be run cafeteria-style, with three attempts per athlete. Attempts must be made within the allotted time frame. Field events will close promptly at the scheduled time, or earlier if all athletes have finished all their attempts. Click here to see the order of events. Each event will begin promptly upon the completion of the previous event.

Participants may enter as many events as they wish. Participants are encouraged to bring their own implements if possible.
Eligibility
Open to all Minnesota residents. USA Track & Field membership is not required, but encouraged. Participants may not compete in older or younger age divisions. All athletes should bring verification of age.
Age Definitions
Bantam (born 2002 or later); Midget (born 2000-2001); Youth (born 1998-1999); Intermediate (born 1996-1997); Young (born after June 23, 1993-1995); Open (19-29 years old on June 23, 2012); Masters (30 years old and over on June 23, 2012).
Rules
USA Track and Field rules and event specifications will be used, except where modified in writing.
Awards
Traditional gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event by age groups. Masters (30 & over) medals will be awarded by five-year age groups (30-34, 35-39, etc.). Medal winners at the 2012 Star of the North Games will earn an invitation to the 2013 State Games of America in Hershey-Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
All-Events Passes
Passes are required for admission to all Star of the North Summer Games events and may be purchased for $10 per person at registration check-in, or at the track and field stadium. Admission is free for children 12 and under. All athletes receive a credential for free admission to all competitions and events during the Summer Games.
Refund Policy
No refunds will be given if an athlete fails to participate. Competitions will be conducted unless the Star of the North Games Board of Directors or Sport Director(s) determines the weather conditions to be potentially dangerous or life threatening. No refunds will be given due to inclement weather.
Financial Aid
The Registration Assistance Program (RAP) was created to assist athletes under 18 years of age who may need financial aid to participate in the Games. For more information on RAP, call the Star of the North Summer Games office.
